"Silhouette I By Colin McMaster"
"Colin McMaster ‘paints stereotypes rather than individuals’ and combines references from photographic storyboards of romantic comics with sinister undertones of American Film noir and pulp crime novels. The subjects are ‘superficially attractive but there is a underlying sense of their narcissism and perhaps even their engagement in acts which the viewer is compelled to interrupt as illicit’. McMaster’s work lends itself to the Pop Art Movement and the mannequin-like quality of the figures heightens feelings of artifice, blurring the viewer’s sense of looking at a painted image. This print is signed and numbered by the artist."

"Scrutiny By Storm Thorgerson"
"The machine ‘Scrutiny’ was constructed by Thorgerson and his team using no photoshop/computer just photography as Storm Thorgerson considers it more ‘real’. This piece explores the mystery of womanhood and man’s quest to understand – the battle between the sexes. It pits man/nature against machine/technology with the machine being inescapable – referring to the effects of technology in our everyday lives. ‘At first glance it may look like an image that’s about threatening a woman – since machinery is often a male preserve, it is a male threat. But it think it is more about man’s paranoia, his feat of woman more than his antipathy. i.e. the only way that a man can understand a woman is via an enormous machine – a scientific probe which can scrutinise the inner recesses of the female mind that many men claim to find so elusive."
