John Harrison, who was widely known as an artisan, carpenter and watchmaker, invented a marine chronometer in 1720 that had the ability to calculate the longitude while at sea. His invention significantly improved the safety of passengers on long distanced sea travel during this time and it is these principles that Bell and Ross celebrates with their BR 01 Instrument de Marine watch.
