"Lost In Paris (DVD)"
"French slapstick comedy about a Canadian librarian who meets a homeless man in Paris. Emmanuelle Riva stars. According to Variety, Paris has seldom been funnier or more charming than as seen through burlesque duo Dominique Abel and Fiona Gordon's eyes.? Fiona, a shy, English-speaking librarian, receives a letter from Aunt Martha (Emmanuelle Riva) beckoning her to Paris, so she packs her bright red knapsack and buys a ticket. But when Fiona arrives, Martha is missing. And so begins a loony missing-persons search. This is a delightful comedy with minimal dialogue, very much in the style of Jacques Tati. What the press said ""Emmanuelle Riva beguiles in this funny little gem. 4 STARS"" Guardian ""Can nonsense save the world? Surely not, but it can nourish the soul when the parts of life that are supposed to make sense refuse to do so. Lost in Paris? is nonsensical by design, a comedy of the absurd that's always entertaining and occasionally pure."" Wall Street Journal"

"Lost Villages (DVD)"
"All over Britain, you may stumble across the remains of villages that were once busy and full of life but now lie silent and still. These are known as `lost villages´ or even `ghost villages´ and there are an estimated 3,000 of them. In this film we visit a number that disappeared during the 20th century, from the Outer Hebrides to the South West of England, and because of their diversity there are many reasons why they met their end. Some of our featured villages vanished because of economic reasons, as foreign competition undercut their markets; others, such as Imber on Salisbury Plain and Tyneham in Dorset, were requisitioned by the military. We also visit villages that were flooded to form reservoirs, so that water could be supplied to the large conurbations of Lancashire and Yorkshire. The film also includes the strange tale of Penybanc in South Wales, which was the victim of subsidence caused by mining. Villages have also been sacrificed in the constant demand for improved transportation. Charlton near Bristol was bulldozed to make way for a lengthened runway at Filton, while Moorswater in Cornwall was demolished when a new road was built in the 1970s. To prove the point that this story has parallels with the present, our journey ends at Sipson, which is scheduled to be razed to allow a third runway at Heathrow Airport. This enchanting new DVD is based on Henry Buckton`s best-selling book, and is enhanced by evocative archive photographs, specially composed music and stunning location film. "Love In A Cold Climate (2000) (DVD)"

"Love in a Cold Climate - The Complete Series [1980](DVD)"
"An eight-part adaptation of two classic novels by Nancy Mitford, and starring Judi Dench, Michael Williams and Michael Aldridge, Love in a Cold Climate presents the English upper class of the Twenties and Thirties as seen by one of its most gifted chroniclers. The series traces the unconventional lives and loves of the family of Lord Alconleigh, dominated by the eccentric, irascible Uncle Matthew - an affectionate and only lightly embellished caricature of the Mitford siblings father, Lord Redesdale. With several scenes drawn from Nancy Mitford s childhood memories (not least her father s alarming penchant for hunting his children with a bloodhound), the story also encompasses the economic and political crises of the Thirties and the upheavals of the Second World War, which would ultimately bring to an end the privileged world inhabited by the family. Love in a Cold Climate was adapted by novelist and dramatist Simon Raven, and directed by Donald McWhinnie (Rumpole of the Bailey). Running Time: 400 minutes Region: Region 2 Release Date: 26 Sept. 2011"
