"Softly Softly Task Force: Series 1 (DVD)"
"The classic long running police series that became one of the BBCs most successful spin-offs. Stratford Johns stars as no-nonsense DCS Charlie Barlow, a tough, relentless and sharp-tongued copper, with Frank Windsor as his even-tempered sidekick DS John Watt. Together they tackle the forces most heinous crimes, and unravel the most perplexing cases. The two hard-nosed officers first became household names in Troy Kennedy Martins legendary TV series, Z Cars. In this colour spin-off, Barlow and Watt headed south to head up a special task force in fictional Thamesford, where they continued their nice and nasty cop routine to good effect. The groundbreaking series was created by Elwyn Jones, a stalwart of BBC crime drama, and featured a stellar British cast of regulars alongside the crime-busting duo, including Terence Rigby as dog hander PC Snow (with his dogs Inky and Radar), David Lloyd Meredith as Sgt Evans and Walter Gotell as Chief Constable Cullen. "Softly Softly: Task Force Series 2 (DVD)"
"Stratford Johns and Frank Windsor reprise their iconic roles as nasty and nice cops DCS Charlie Barlow and DCI John Watt, in the second outing of BBC One's acclaimed Z-Cars spin-off Johns Barlow defined the nations very notion of a no-nonsense, sharp-tongued police chief not averse to thrashing suspects into submission, while Windsors Watt played mellower mind games with the villains. Together with their Special Operations squad, they tackle fictional Thamesfords most monstrous crimes and puzzling cases. Unafraid to address problematic social issues of the day, the series, like its predecessors Z-Cars and Softly Softly, provided a startling window on police methods and the simmering tensions and resentments on the streets of 1970s Britain. Created by BBC crime stalwart Elwyn Jones, other popular returning characters include fellow Softly Softly stalwart DS Harry Hawkins (Norman Bowler), dog handler PC Snow (Terence Digby), cheery Sergeant Evans (David Lloyd Meredith) and troubled Chief Constable Cullen (Walter Gotell). Following the edgy tradition set by the earlier shows, most of these episodes were originally broadcast live. What the press said One of the best-realised spin-off series the BBC has ever had. - Television Heaven Running Time: 1300 minutes Region: Region 2 Release Date: 26 Sept. 2016"

"Somerset's Lost Railway (DVD)"
"This is the story of one of Britain's most delightful railways. The Weston, Clevedon and Portishead Railway was a quirky, colourful, independent, standard gauge light railway which served the people of North Somerset from 1897-1940. First proposed in 1884, construction took so long that some sleepers were rotten by the time the line opened! The railway was always short of money, and most of the locos and rolling stock were bought second-hand from various sources, making a motley but interesting collection. Over its 14 mile length there were 19 stations, mostly just halts with no platforms and only a hut for shelter. Where there were platforms, they were usually made of wood. Stories abound of times when passengers would jump off to pick flowers or blackberries at the many level crossings. Trains were led across the streets in Clevedon by a guard carrying red and green flags, and the line ran through beautiful countryside. From 1911 until 1931, the railway came under the management of the 'Light Railway King' Col. H F Stephens. This DVD brings the story of this fascinating railway to life, with the help of some superb rare photographs, precious archive film from the 1930s, an award-winning model railway, interviews and aerial footage of some of the route of the line today. A real treat for railway enthusiasts everywhere. Running Time: 90 minutes Region: Region 2 Release Date: N/A"
