The long-awaited iPhone X has landed after 11 generations of the iconic Apple iPhone. Unlike the muted reception of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus which did not really deviate from the iPhone 7 the iPhone X is a pleasure the use.

The unlocking feature has been replaced by the TrueDepth camera system which uses facial recognition to unlock the handset. The IR cameras used for facial recognition are at the top of the phone staying out of the way of the main display screen.
Simply put, the iPhone X is two panels of Gorilla Glass 5 held together with a stainless-steel frame. Gorilla Glass 5 is one of the most durable glass made today. Whilst Apple state that the glass is the strongest found on any smartphone its highly recommendable to purchase an iPhone X case to protect against cracking when dropped.

Its really has moved on from the iPhone 8, the Gorilla Glass does add a bit of bulk to the handset and its not perfectly flush with the frame.
It is a lot more compact than the iPhone 8, which makes using the iPhone X easier with one hand. Visually its more pleasing to the eye than the iPhone 8 even though the changes have been minor.
We did a test on the IP67 waterproofing. Its fine for a quick drop in the sink and can easily handle up to 30 minutes under water as long as you do not go below the prescribed 1m depth.

Apple have worked on balancing the colours using restrained balancing technology. This gives the overly sharp colours a better look in comparison to other handsets that currently use OLED. The quality of the pictures is still amazing with pictures and videos appearing very natural in colour.

The long-awaited iPhone X has landed after 11 generations of the iconic Apple iPhone. Unlike the muted reception of the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus which did not really deviate from the iPhone 7 the iPhone X is a pleasure the use.
Its changed Apples game with a faster, slicker looking handset but the big change……. No more home button.
Build and Design
The iPhone X is slightly larger than the iPhone 8 but the removal of the screen Bezel allows room for a seamless 5.8-inch screen which is much larger than the iPhone 8 is 4.7-inch display.
This larger screen stretches completely across the front of the iPhone X which means there is no longer any room for the TouchID finger print scanner.
The unlocking feature has been replaced by the TrueDepth camera system which uses facial recognition to unlock the handset. The IR cameras used for facial recognition are at the top of the phone staying out of the way of the main display screen.
Simply put, the iPhone X is two panels of Gorilla Glass 5 held together with a stainless-steel frame. Gorilla Glass 5 is one of the most durable glass made today. Whilst Apple state that the glass is the strongest found on any smartphone its highly recommendable to purchase an iPhone X case to protect against cracking when dropped.
iPhone X Hands on Review
Its really has moved on from the iPhone 8, the Gorilla Glass does add a bit of bulk to the handset and its not perfectly flush with the frame.
It is a lot more compact than the iPhone 8, which makes using the iPhone X easier with one hand. Visually its more pleasing to the eye than the iPhone 8 even though the changes have been minor.
We did a test on the IP67 waterproofing. Its fine for a quick drop in the sink and can easily handle up to 30 minutes under water as long as you do not go below the prescribed 1m depth.
Unlike other Apple handsets the only colours available are Silver and Space Grey. The Silver handset really does stand out compared to the Space Grey.
iPhone X Display Quality
Apple have really gone to town on the iPhone X display however, Apple fanatics might not be so keen with the notch at the top of the handset.
This is Apple is first time using an OLED display instead off their usual LCD display. This has had a huge affect when view darker colours whilst watching videos. The iPhone X has taken a huge step and the blacks and show colours really pop out of the screen.
Watching videos, conferencing and Facetime is a lot better. The outlines are very crisp and clear, and textures are clearer than they have ever been on an Apple handset.
Apple have worked on balancing the colours using restrained balancing technology. This gives the overly sharp colours a better look in comparison to other handsets that currently use OLED. The quality of the pictures is still amazing with pictures and videos appearing very natural in colour.
The screen brightness is very good for an OLED display, this helps when reading the phone from an angle. There is nearly no glare from bright lights or in direct sunlight.
Apple have also ported over some technology from the iPad Pro. Launching the iPhone X with TrueTone adaptive colour temperature system. This technology strips the blue light out of the display helping warm up the natural colours.
The camera notch at the top of the handset does push into the screen which actually gives the user less user space than the iPhone 8
iPhone X Sound Quality
The iPhone is often seen as the phone to beat when competing on audio quality. This has not really changed with the iPhone X. Once again Apple have decided to lose the 3.5mm headphone port which caused a stir with the iPhone 8.
