"Bristol Blenheim Mk.IV R3843 F for Freddie RAF No.18 Squadron Operation Leg 19th August 19 1:72 Corgi Model"
"At a time when Britain and her Commonwealth were enduring their &8216;Darkest Hour&8217; the nation were in need of inspirational heroes and perhaps nobody answered this call more famously than Douglas Bader Losing both his legs as a result of a pre-war flying accident Bader&8217;s determination to re-join the RAF saw him playing a significant role in leading Fighter Command&8217;s defiant resistance against the Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain and later taking part in fighter sweeps over Northern France as the RAF went on the offensive It was during one of these operations on 9th August 1941 that Bader&8217;s Spitfire collided with another aircraft severing the tail and sending him spinning towards the ground Although managing to exit the aircraft and parachute to safety one of his prosthetic legs had remained stuck in the cockpit and crashed to earth with the stricken Spitfire Clearly a huge propaganda coup for the Germans they contacted the RAF with news of Bader&8217;s capture and to offer safe passage to an aircraft bringing a replacement leg for their illustrious guest Not wanting to allow the Germans an even greater propaganda victory the RAF planned to parachute drop a new leg not by accepting the safe passage option but as part of a full &8216;Circus&8217; bombing raid On 19th August 1941 six Blenheim MkIVs supported by a large force of Spitfires launched an attack against the power station at Gosnay with Blenheim R3843 also carrying a rather unusual payload Douglas Bader&8217;s new leg The wooden box containing the prosthetic limb was unceremoniously bundled out of the Blenheim over the target area before all six bombers turned for home their bombs unreleased due to heavy cloud cover over the target area and the fear of inaccurate bombing causing civilian casualties The protecting Spitfires did not fare so well with eight aircraft lost during the operation Dimensions 31 x 28 x 9Scale 172Limited Edition YesLimited Edition Size 1000Wingspan 230mmAge Suitability 14"

"The Morris Minor had a remarkably long production life from 1948 until 1971 and was a great step forward in handling and comfort It was the first complete car designed by the legendary Alec Issigonis (knighted in 1969) to enter production Over the years it was available in at least 38 different colours but this car&8217;s &8216;Turquoise BU6&8217; is rare because it was only offered between 1956 and 1959 This car was purchased by Mr Marchbank in 1985 Dimensions 66 x 67 x 152Scale 143Limited Edition YesLimited Edition Size 800Length 87mmAge Suitability 14"

"Sunbeam Alpine Series 2 Quartz Blue Metallic 1:43 Corgi Vanguard Model"
"This Series 2 model was painted in a slightly later Series 3 colour quartz blue It was owned from 1972-1975 by Edinburgh-based Kenneth Scott and he remembers that although areas underneath showed it had originally been green it had been painted very professionally and comprehensively This has led Alpine enthusiasts to speculate it was done by the Rootes development department in order to see what an Alpine would look like in their new colour Alternatively it could have been sprayed by the Edinburgh dealership it was dispatched to as a special order for a favoured customer This would explain why the hardtop usually in a contrasting shade was the same colour"

"Audi Quattro Sable Brown Metallic 1:43 Corgi Vanguard Model"
"The quattro modelled was first registered in August 1984 is one of only fourteen right-hand-drive examples in this colour and was specified unusually with tan leather upholstery During its UK life it covered around 130000 miles and had fifteen owners but was looked after carefully by each one and had an extensive service history; quattro owners tend to be enthusiasts who care for their car The last UK owner Gary West an engineer who works restoring vehicles at the Haynes International Museum in Sparkford Somerset bought it from a classic car dealer in Bristol After his tenure because of its unusual and desirable colour it was bought by a private collector in Malaysia The first owner drove over an obstruction when the car was relatively new and ripped off an oil pipe damaging the engine which was rebuilt by Audi Sport Like all UK market 1984 model year quattros this car featured a revised specification that included anti-lock brakes wider wheels and tyres a digital facia display and revised gear ratios plus the vacuum differential locks revised suspension and single piece Cibi&233; headlamps which had been introduced in 1983 The quattro entered limited production in 1980 but Audi continued to develop the car after its rallying success turned it into a world-wide icon and brand builder for the company producing regular mechanical and styling updates until production ceased in 1990 after 11452 had been made Dimensions 7 x 68 x 155Scale 143Limited Edition YesLimited Edition Size 1000Length 100mmAge Suitability 14"

"6 Anglesey Rd via Station & Uxbridge St Guy Utility Bus Burton Corporation 1:76 Corgi Model"
"From 1903 Burton Corporation&8217;s municipal transport system relied exclusively on the tram system but in January 1924 with more residents living away from the tram network the decision was taken to bring in two &8216;B&8217; type motorbuses with Guy B20F bodywork In 1930 trams were entirely replaced by buses and in 1943 Burton received its first double-deck vehicles two utility Guy Arabs with Weymann H56R bodywork built to wartime specifications which included wooden slatted seating Eight more were delivered in 1944 including Burton Corporation No 34 a Guy Arab II 5LW registration FA 7978 which was fitted with a Park Royal body The double-deck vehicles proved more popular than the single-deck vehicles which were becoming heavily overcrowded but the wartime utility buses had been built using poor quality timber and were prone to premature deterioration Some were rebuilt by the Corporation themselves whilst others went to Merthyr Tydfil bodybuilder D J Davies including FA 7978 which was rebuilt in 1951 Dimensions 78 x 79 x 197Scale 176Limited Edition YesAge Suitability 14"

"Junkers Ju88A-5 9K+ED- Stab III./KG51 Winter 1940 1:72 Corgi Model"
"As a result of the RAFs first bombing raid against Berlin on 25th August 1940 and incorrectly assuming that Fighter Command were all but knocked out of the war the Luftwaffe were directed to leave Britain&8217;s fighter stations alone and concentrate their efforts against London In a period which became known as the Blitz from October 1940 British cities were targeted by German bombers on a nightly basis and whilst these raids had a devastating effect on the civilian population it allowed Britain to galvanise its defences and re-equip its battered fighter squadrons Arguably the most effective bomber available to the Luftwaffe during WWII was the Junkers Ju88 a pre-war &8216;Schnellbomber&8217; which proved to be both capable and adaptable seeing service throughout WWII and produced in significant quantitiesFor the switch to night bombing operations over Britain most of IIIKG51s Ju88s benefited from some field applied camouflage modifications which helped to make the aircraft less visible to British defences The under-surfaces of the aircraft were given a black paint wash which effectively masked all national insignia and fuselage markings were similarly blacked out Only the top wing balkenkreuz was retained presumably to aid with friendly unit recognition and to avoid incidents of friendly fire losses It is interesting to note that of the many KG51 Ju88s lost over Britain during the night Blitz offensive one machine lost during November 1940 was thought to have been the first victim of a radar equipped Bristol Beaufighter nightfighter Unfortunately many more aircraft on both sides would be lost before the war was over Scale 172Limited Edition YesLimited Edition Size 1000Wingspan 275mmAge Suitability 14"

"Bristol Beaufighter TF.X NE829/PL-J- RAF No.144 Squadron Banff Strike Wing Aberdeenshire Scotland 1:72 Corgi Model"
"As one of the most capable twin engined aircraft of WWII the Bristol Beaufighter was originally developed as a heavy fighter variant of the company&8217;s Beaufort bomber already in service with the Royal Air Force The first examples were pressed into service as nightfighters and whilst the aircraft proved to be a significant improvement over existing types there was more to come from the mighty beau As the aircraft received successive upgrades to make it more powerful and capable of carrying a greater array of offensive weaponry the Beaufighter became a successful multi-role aircraft with a particular flair for mounting hard hitting anti-shipping strikes into the North Sea preventing Axis shipping from moving supplies back to Germany It was during one of these missions that Banff based Flying Officer Maurice Exton was awarded a DFC for outstanding flying skill and determination in the face of the enemy Flying Beaufighter NE829 on 9th October 1944 Exton and his squadron attacked a large convoy of enemy vessels off the coast of Norway but his aircraft was hit by heavy flak from the ships Damaging the aircraft&8217;s flight controls causing it to almost flip onto its back Exton wrestled with the Beaufighter&8217;s control column bringing it back straight and level before immediately pressing home his attack He then nursed the damaged aircraft back to Banff where he managed to land safely Inflicting heavy damage on the enemy convoy they attacked this incident says as much about the determination of the airmen of Coastal Command as it does about the resilience of the Bristol Beaufighter"

"SEPECAT Jaguar T4 XX838PR RAF No16 (Reserve) Squadron ColtishallIf it were at all possible to give the attractive SEPECAT Jaguar even better looks than it already possessed the two seat training variant of the aircraft is regarded by many enthusiasts as being one of the most aesthetically pleasing post war jets to see service with the Royal Air Force Although the tandem studentinstructor configuration of training Jaguars appeared to make this variant significantly longer than the more numerous single seat big cats the aircraft was actually only 2ft 35 inches greater in length even though their appearance was that of a much more slender and elegant aeroplane SEPECAT Jaguar T4 XX838 was built in 1975 to T2A (trainer) standard and subsequently became one of only eleven airframes to receive further upgrade to the final T4 training variant of the aircraft remaining with the RAF until the Jaguar was finally withdrawn from service in late 2006 For this RAF 100 series release she is presented wearing the colours of RAF No16 (Reserve) Squadron which acted as the Operational Conversion Unit for future Jaguar pilots following its reformation at RAF Lossiemouth in 1991 With its heritage as one of the oldest Royal Air Force Squadrons the units badge features two crossed keys one gold and one black which can be traced back to the formation of the unit at Saint-Omer in 1915 and the Squadron&8217;s proud army cooperation role Providing vital aerial reconnaissance of enemy positions over the Western Front during the Great war the two keys represent the Squadron&8217;s effectiveness at unlocking the enemy&8217;s secrets by day or by night providing military planners Dimensions 285 x 9 x 315Scale 172Limited Edition YesLimited Edition Size 1000Wingspan 118mmAge Suitability 14"

"As strong German forces moved to secure their southern flank and rectify a failed Italian attempt to invade Greece Allied forces found themselves in a steady retreat towards Crete Extensive air operations saw large numbers of RAF aircraft engaged in fighting with both German and Italian air force units and despite initial successes the came under increasing pressure Perhaps the most successful Hawker Hurricane MkI fighter of this difficult period was V7795 usually flown by Pilot Officer William Vale of No80 Squadron Royal Air Force Still displaying its standard RAF day fighter camouflage scheme this unusual aircraft also included some additional field applied camouflage modifications to the leading edge and engine cowling which were applied to just a small number of Hurricanes Vale claimed eight enemy aircraft destroyed whilst flying this aircraft during April and May 1941 Following the success of the Hawker Hurricane during the Battle of Britain it soon became clear that the Spitfire had the greatest potential for future development which released the Hurricane for other duties The rugged design of the Hurricane and numbers available to the RAF saw many machines sent overseas and as the war began to spread across the globe so did the influence of the dependable Hurricane From North Africa to Russia the Hurricane continued to provide sterling service and continued to destroy Axis aircraft and military vehicles"
