However this release consisted of around 2,000 hand made copies and was only in the UK. Shortly after The Adventure Company picked up publishing for XXv and published the game worldwide in 2003 under the new title Dark Fall: The Journal. The entire game has the player searching the long abandoned Dowerton Train Station in the sleepy town of Dorset in the UK. The station has a dark past marred by several unexplainable disappearances. You travel there after receiving a message from your terrified brother, an architect who has begun a restoration project on the old station. Once you get there you realize that your brother is missing and it quickly becomes apparent that the station is haunted by ghosts. Darksiders
Darksiders Deceived by the forces of evil into prematurely bringing about the end of the world, War - the first Horseman of the Apocalypse - stands accused of breaking the sacred law by inciting a war between Heaven and Hell. Darksiders is an action adventure game released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on January 5, 2010 in North America; for the PC, the game was released in September 24, 2010 in North America . Darksiders is Vigil Games' debut title, and is published by THQ (in North America and Europe) and Konami (in Japan). The game is loosely based on the book of Revelations in the Bible. Vigil took the concepts of the Four Horsemen, the Apocalypse, Heaven and Hell, Angels and Demons, among other references, and created their own take and mythology on them. Darksiders tells the story of War, one of the Four Horsemen who is blamed for the destruction of humanity in a premature battle between Heaven and Hell. The game sold well, estimated at 1.2 million units worldwide in the four weeks after release. Its success has led not only to a sequel, but also a planned film adaptation being written by Darksiders creator Joe Madureira. Darksiders Franchise Pack
Darksiders Franchise Pack The Daksiders Franchise Pack includes Darksiders and Darksiders II. Players take control of Death, one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. The core gameplay is an action role-playing[2][3] hack and slash style. The game makes frequent use of interactive puzzle elements, requiring the player to think their way through a series of levers, doors, elevators, portals, etc. in order to traverse areas and reach objectives. Maps are vast and each contain open world "overworld" regions that can be explored freely on foot or by horse, along with numerous dungeons where quest objectives are generally carried out. There are main and side quests, with main and side boss fights. Worlds can be traversed via "fast-travel", whereby the player can teleport to certain map points instantly. While inside a Dungeon, the player is also allowed to fast-travel back to the overworld while saving their dungeon location for continuation later without losing progress. Death is aided by Despair, a horse that is available for use in open areas of the overworld for faster travel, and Dust, a raven that guides him to his objectives. Each is accessed with a key/button stroke. Death's primary weapons are two scythes, one wielded in each hand. Secondary weapons include typical melee weapons like hammers, axes, and maces as "slow" options; "fast" options are generally gauntlet-style weapons that provide the player with claws and other bladed arm extensions, at the expense of less range and power than the slow weapons. There are several different movement options, including swimming, running along walls, and several different climbing options that are available on specially placed wooden elements, such as wall pegs and beams (players learn to recognize wood as climbing elements, in contrast to the stone that dominates most of the world's structures). In the course of quests, Death also acquires "Death Grip", which operates as a grappling hook on certain objects; and "Voidwalker", which operates similarly to the Portal Gun from the Portal video game series, though it only works at certain designated locations. Other abilities like "Soul Splitter" and "Interdiction" are also acquired, which allow the player to control multiple characters to traverse puzzle areas. Health, Wrath, and Reaper resource meters display on-screen whenever they change, along with an experience meter that shows how close the player is to the next character class level. Wrath is the game's mana-type system, being a resource used for special abilities. Reaper is a separate resource used only for the Reaper ability, and when full, Death can transform briefly into his grim reaper form, which is more resilient and deals more damage (graphically it is the more typical depiction of Death as a spectral figure, rather than the flesh form normally used in the game). There are eight player statistics, including a character class level that increases at various experience levels. Each new level gives the player a skill point that can be used in a skill tree that contains new abilities. Other statistics can be increased by equipping items, with each item having various stat-altering characteristics. The player's inventory contains seven different pages of equipment classes (primary and secondary weapon, shoulder, armor, glove, boot, and talisman, with an additional page for quest items). New equipment can be acquired via enemy drops, looting chests, or purchasing from vendor characters. New combo moves can also be purchased from "Trainer" characters. "Stonebites", which are blue stones hidden throughout the world, can be collected (after several quests have been completed) and traded to a character named Blackroot, in groups of three, in exchange for various permanent statistic upgrades. There are three Stonebite types, and the particular combination traded determines which upgrade is received. Money is dropped by enemies and chests, and can also be acquired by selling items to vendors. Special "Possessed weapons" are rarely acquired, which provide another more unorthodox mechanic for trading in unwanted items, whereby the possessed weapon can be upgraded by "sacrificing" other lesser items to it.

Darksiders II
Darksiders II Awakened by the End of Days, Death, the most feared of the legendary Four Horsemen, embarks upon a quest to restore mankind, and redeem his brothers name. Vigil Games allegedly began working on the sequel just a couple of months after releasing the original Darksiders. It was revealed that in Darksiders II, a new character will take center stage as the main protagonist, not War. It was published by Nordic Games, which had acquired the rights to the Darksiders franchise following the bankruptcy of THQ. The port was developed by Gunfire Games, a studio that was founded by Darksiders creator David L. Adams following the closure of Crytek USA (which itself was established after the closure of Vigil by THQ) and consists almost entirely of Vigil staff. Along with higher-resolution graphics and a revamped lighting engine, the studio also made changes to adjust the balance of the game. The Xbox One version of the edition was announced on June 11, 2015. Vigil Games allegedly began working on the sequel just a couple of months after releasing the original Darksiders. Frontlines: Fuel of War
Frontlines: Fuel of War FRONTLINES: FUEL OF WAR ESD. Frontlines: Fuel of War is an open-world First Person Shooter set on the frontlines of tomorrow. In a world ravaged by a global energy crisis, environmental decay, and economic depression Setting Frontlines: Fuel of War takes place in 2024, in a post-'Peak Oil' world with two global superpowers, the Western Coalition (the U.S.A. and the E.U.) and the Red Star Alliance, (Russia and China) battling over the last remaining sources around the Caspian. The lack of oil and failure of alternate sources to provide enough energy has exacerbated other disasters, including blackouts in 2008, avian influenza in 2009, and a global depression in 2012. (This game was made in 2008! Wake up sheeple!) The lack of oil has no in-game effect (vehicles can't run out, for instance, and maps still contain the expected assortment of explosive containers.) Single-player Campaign The campaign is narrated by a journalist embedded with the 'Stray Dogs', a company in the Western Coalition force; during missions the player has control of a series of generic soldiers within the company. The campaign begins with the Stray Dogs flying in for a six-week guard in Turkmenistan at one of the last operating refineries to relieve the previous company, when they are ambushed by Red Star ("Darkness Falls"). After retaking the refinery the action moves to southern Kazakhstan ("Captains of Industry") in one of the Coalition's first offensives, where the Stray Dogs take control of a Red Star tank factory and find blueprints within. The journalist discovers through his sources that China has used the opportunity to invade and take control of Taiwan, and that rioting and starvation has become an enormous problem in the USA. The Stray Dogs continue to try and block Red Star reinforcements by capturing a mountain pass in Tajikistan ("Anvil"), and the Coalition presses the advantage and advances north to the Russian border. At an old USSR space launch facility in north Kazakhstan the company is assisting an armored division when the Red Star attack them with tactical nuclear missiles; although casualties are high, enough Coalition forces survive to capture and destroy several longer-range rockets ("Graveyard"). Amidst Red Star counterattacks throughout Europe, the Coalition receives intelligence of a planned ICBM launch (described as 'thirteen-hundred Hiroshimas') in an underground mountain base, and the Stray Dogs are among those assigned to prevent it ("Mountain King"). Although ultimately successful, their abort codes fail to stop the rocket and the only option is to seal the silo doors, with the ICBM detonating inside and killing many of the Stray Dogs. The Coalition continues to advance and eventually reaches the outskirts of Moscow ("Living Quarter"), and eventually downtown Moscow ("History Repeats"). After taking several Government buildings and defending a square against the Red Star's final push, the remaining Red Star forces retreat. The Stray Dogs celebrate the victory, but the reporter reminds them that China will continue to fight on... Single-player missions are broken up into several phases as the frontline 'moves', and are effectively multi-player games against (limited respawning) bots with a few scripted events. The backbone of a ground invasion is the U.S. Army Infantry, and in the midst of combat, their skills, courage, and teamwork are put to the test. Overview Full Spectrum Warrior is a squad-based shooter in which the player who assumes the role of the commander issues commands to the two fireteams. Each fireteam has a team leader who is a equipped with a M4 Carbine and a GPS. The GPS is used to locate mission objectives. The Team Leader also has a radio for communication purposes. The second team member is the Automatic Rifleman, who is equipped with an M429 Squad Automatic Weapon, this is used to lay suppressive fire on the enemy. The second team member becomes leader if the team leader is dead. The third team member is the Grenadier, equipped with an M4 with an grenade launcher attachment. The fourth and last team member is the Rifleman, equipped with a M4 carbine. If a member of the team is wounded, another member of the team will carry them. It is also possible to order them to lay down suppressive fire on a given zone to cover the second squad's movement, or to reduce incoming fire. Gameplay revolves around the concept of fire and movement, with one team providing suppressive fire while the other moves. Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers
Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers Overview Full Spectrum Warrior: Ten Hammers is a squad based shooter that involves little shooting on the players part as the majority of the game consists of moving two accompanying squads around the map. However, the game did continue to iterate on the mechanics established by the original Full Spectrum Warrior. New editions include the ability to divide fire teams into smaller teams of two and deploy troops inside of buildings. Story The story begins six months after the fall of the Zekistani regime as allied forces cope to ease the transition toward democratic government. The core story focuses on the efforts of American, UN, British and National Militia forces to quell sectarian division in the country. The seeds of civil war in Zekistan are being sown by Mullah Abdul Hassan, the leader of the Mujahideen. The narrative is broken up into four chapters consisting of three levels each. The first chapter revolves around the seasoned Sergeant Santiago Mendez and rookie Sergeant Thomas Randolph as they fight their way to the Tien Hamir Monastery to save a captured American Sergeant. However, upon arriving at the monastery both Mednez and Randolph discover the body of Sergeant Eric Daniels in a nearby shed. The second chapter revolves around the British forces in Zekistan as the player is given control of squads led by Sergeant Brian Sims and Sergeant Hyde who are tasked with capturing the Tien Hammir Bridge. This chapter actually precedes the events of chapter one as the player assists Sergeant Daniels repel insurgents before capturing the Tien Hammir Bridge itself. The third chapter centres on Sergeant Daniels and his mission to destroy stockpiled weapons at a nearby boathouse. After destroying the ship loading cranes and weapons at the boathouse, Daniels is redirected to assist nearby British forces in neutralizing enemy artillery stationed near the Tien Hammir Parliment building. The chapter ends with a miscalculated Allied air strike that kills two members of Daniel's squad. The fourth and final chapter focuses on a disoriented Sergeant Daniels in the immediate aftermath of the botched air strike. Daniels is able to form a slapdash squad amongst the confusion in order to escort a bus filled with wounded soldiers and civilians through hostile territory and back to friendly lines. While en route to friendly lines, Daniels and his squad locate two MIA American soldiers, Corporal Picoli and Private Ota, but are surprised by an insurgent attack that rapidly overruns the Tien Hamir Monastery. During extraction via helicopter, Daniels decides to make the ultimate sacrifice and hold off the attackers rather than preserve himself. Gothic: Universe Edition
Gothic: Universe Edition Gothic Universe is a combination of Gothic 1, Gothic II Gold, and Gothic 3. Gothic is a 3rd person action-RPG set in a prison colony that has been taken over by its convicts. They cannot get out due to a magical barrier, but the king needs the ore from the valley for his army and so is forced to trade with them. The player is thrown into this valley for crimes unknown. Before his sentence a man asks him to take a letter, which he is to deliver to the fire mages who are trapped in the valley with the convicts... The game is relatively low on statistics, focusing instead on reflex-based combat and character interaction through dialogue. The scale of the world is modest compared to other RPGs though as a result the world is elaborately detailed (if a little sparse in visuals by today's standards) and every area is uniquely crafted to be memorable and interesting. Gothic's soundtrack was composed by Kai Rosenkranz. Jagged Alliance Gold
Jagged Alliance Gold This turn-based RPG combines a unique mix of high technology, tactical maneuvering and strategic planning with a compelling storyline that tests the limits of players’ strategy and role-playing skills. The highly revered classic was originally released for PC in 1994 as part of a series of award-winning strategy games. In its DS debut, Jagged Alliance boasts a unique blend of turn-based combat, strategy and role-playing, creating a compelling and addictive playing experience unlike almost anything else. The non-linear gameplay uniquely unfolds based entirely on the player’s moves and decisions. Released in 1995, Deadly Games is a DOS sequel to the original game. It features a different format, however, and is considered by some to be more of a spin-off than a sequel. This game features the same engine and top-down perspective as the original game. In Deadly Games, the player takes a group of mercenaries through a series of missions. The missions are linked chronologically, removing the need for micro-management on a strategic map. The scenario branches somewhat depending on the player's successes and failures. There are multiple terrain types, the mercenaries are hired and fired between missions, and Micky, the first equipment trader of the series, offers his services; for example, he may occasionally sell the player junk equipment, thereby prompting the mercs to voice their displeasure with the deal). The most innovative aspects of Deadly Games include a wide variety of special ops mission types like hostage rescues, demolition, and infiltration missions. It featured turn limits and a boosted AI as well as networked multiplayer capabilities. The integrated scenario and campaign editors allow for the creation of custom strategic scenarios, adding to the replay value. Mercenary weapons can be modified by adding scopes, silencers, and barrel extenders. Heavier equipment such as grenade launchers and mortars are available as well.
